Originally from Seattle, Washington, JS Bateman is a graduate of the University of Washington. He served nearly 32 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Colonel in 2010. He served most of that time in law enforcement and antiterrorism positions, including three stints as Chief of Police. He holds Masters degrees in Criminal Justice and History. Since his retirement from the Air Force, he has worked as a public historian, and, most recently, as a gentlemen farmer/novelist. He lives in Hyde Park, Utah with his lovely wife of 30 years, Marcie, and an assortment of critters embarrassing to list here, but known cumulatively as “Flying Pig Farms.”
